My Intel ARC B580 freezes after a few seconds on the lock screen during startup. Safe mode fixes it, and so does using DDU and then reinstalling the Arc Drivers, but the problem recurs the next day.
Hello lian1,
Thank you for posting on Intel Community Forum.
I understand that your Intel® Arc™ B580 freezes a few seconds after reaching the Windows lock screen during startup. You mentioned that the issue is temporarily resolved by booting into Safe Mode, using DDU, and reinstalling the Intel graphics driver, but the problem reappears the next day.
To help us investigate further, could you please provide the following information?
- When did the issue first start occurring?
- Did the issue begin after a driver update, Windows update, BIOS update, or hardware change?
- What is the make and wattage of your power supply (PSU)?
- Are you receiving any error messages, blue screens, or Event Viewer errors?
- Does the system freeze only at the lock screen, or does it also freeze after logging into Windows?
- Have you tested a previous graphics driver version? If so, what was the result?
- Does the issue occur every day or intermittently?
Additionally, please try the following recommendations:
- Configure the graphics card to operate at the full x16 PCI Express lane width.
- Ensure the system is running in UEFI mode rather than Legacy/CSM mode.
- Update the motherboard BIOS to the latest version available from your system or motherboard manufacturer.
- Install all available Windows updates.
Please also generate and share an Intel® System Support Utility (SSU) report:
For guidance on generating an Intel SSU report, please refer to:
How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*
Once I have the SSU report, I will review the information and continue investigating your case to provide the most appropriate recommendations.
Best regards,

Hello, the issue started like 5-7 days ago I dont know if it was a driver update then. I have 550 watt Corsair power supply. I don’t get any error, it just freezes. I can’t get into windows because it freezes after 2-3 seconds so I dont have time to type in my password. I have not tested an older driver version. I don’t know how to download a previous one. I saw yesterday that there was a new driver that just came out and I tried that one as well but here I am a day later and it happened again. I had to uninstall it like 5-7 times now.
I’m having the same problem. It is the driver.
Yes, I can confirm this issue. It is present with the following driver versions:
-
Intel® Graphics Driver 32.0.101.8861
-
Intel® Graphics Driver 32.0.101.8860 (WHQL Certified)
After booting into Safe Mode, using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove the graphics driver, and then reinstalling the Intel Arc driver, Windows boots normally again. However, the problem always returns the next day after a normal shutdown and startup.
As a temporary workaround, I no longer use Shut Down. Instead, I keep the system in Sleep mode, which avoids the startup freeze.
The fan control and Tuning issues are also still present. I don’t want the default Zero RPM fan mode. I set the minimum fan speed to around 25% (I’m not completely sure of the exact value because of another bug). After changing the fan settings, the Tuning tab eventually disappears, so I can’t open it again to check or modify the settings. This consistently happens after waking the system from Sleep. I have attached screenshots showing the issue.
Regarding my system specifications, they are already available in the following posts. I will not create another thread because every time I report a problem, it appears to be fixed only temporarily with a new driver, then returns after a few restarts. Creating separate reports for the same system has not been helpful and only results in spending more time writing reports.
My system information is available here:
All of my system information is already included in those posts, and I would appreciate if this issue could be investigated without asking me to create another thread.
